Congress is on the brink of passing comprehensive tax reform that will change the lives of manufacturers in Arizona and across the country for the better.
The National Association of Manufacturers’ Outlook Survey highlighted that more than 50 percent of manufacturers see pro-growth tax reform as an opportunity to hire more workers and increase employee wages and benefits. Manufacturers in Arizona are ready to embrace a tax reform plan that will boost productivity and manufacturing in the United States.
We spoke to Don Theriault, president of Industrial Tool, Die & Engineering, Inc., an aerospace product company in Tucson, Arizona, that has been operating for 46 years, about how tax reform will allow him to make smarter investments and reward his employees:
Q: What will tax reform mean to your company in terms of investment, hiring and growing the business?
A: With tax reform, we should be able to invest in more equipment and hire more people.
Q: What parts of tax reform matter the most to you and why?
A: The estate tax. I wish it was retroactive to the 2017 tax year so my company would not have to pay a 40 percent tax on my father’s estate. He built a business from nothing and now we have to pay for his hard work.
Q: Why should Congress pass tax reform now?
A: I feel tax reform will help us to spend more money on equipment and wages and hire more people.
