Friday Factory Tune: Lawyers in Love

Since liability reform was such a hot issue this week, here’s Jackson Browne at his poppiest, “Lawyers in Love.” Performed at the Rockpalast, Germany, 1986. He reports, “I hear the U.S.S.R. will be open soon, as vacation land for lawyers in love.” Prophetic.

And here are 50+ audio downloads of Warren Zevon performing, “Lawyers, Guns and Money.”

P.S. The Wall Street Journal wins today’s award for most gratuitous headline reference to a member of The Band, “Levin Takes Helm at Ways and Means.” OK, but try to work “Danko” into a headline.

Friday Factory Tune: Team Sports at the Olympics Edition

Jonathan Coulton performing “Curl” live for the first time, a Dec. 6, 2007, show in Minneapolis. “Come on, baby, put the rock in the house.”

Lyrics and .mp3 download of studio version here.

We looked for a video of Warren Zevon doing “Hit Somebody! (The Hockey Song)” but nothing live, videowise. However, thanks to the wealth of live recorded performances available at Archive.org, here’s a 2000 performance of his at the Center for Living Arts, including the tribute to hockey goons co-written with Mitch Albom:

There were Swedes at the the blue line
Finns at the red
A Russian with a stick heading straight for his head
Brains over brawn-that might work for you
But what’s a Canadian farm boy to do
What else can a farm boy from Canada to do
But what’s a Canadian farm boy to do
What else can a farm boy from Canada to do

Thanks to Jordan Zevon for allowing his father’s performances to be posted. The full range of Zevon in concert: solo, with a band, drunk, but mostly sober.
