Happy Fourth of July!
After a frenetic conclusion to last week, a summertime lull has fallen over Washington.
President Obama is at Camp David today and tomorrow. On Wednesday, he hosts an Independence Day celebration on the South Lawn of the White House. He hits the campaign trail on Thursday and Friday, with a bus tour through Pennsylvania and Ohio.
The Senate and House are out for the week.
Executive Branch: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is back in Washington after a weekend trip to Geneva, Switzerland for talks on the conflict in Syria.
Economic Reports: From The New York Times: “Data will include the ISM manufacturing index for June and construction spending for May (Monday); factory orders for May and North American vehicle sales for June (Tuesday); the ADP employment report for June; weekly jobless claims; the retailers’ report on sales for June; and the ISM service index for June (Thursday); and unemployment for June (Friday).”
