Last month, United Technologies Corp. celebrated a major milestone. The company’s employee education program reached the $1 billion mark.
The company provides its employees with access to a very robust program known as the Employee Scholar Program which provides employees with the resources to continue their education in their current field or to enable new career opportunities. The program ways tuition, academic fees and books at approved institutions and is available to the company’s global workforce.
The continued education and development of the workforce is a critical component to manufacturing’s competitiveness. As manufacturing changes it is vital that the workforce is able to adapt to take on new challenges to keep the U.S. the number one manufacturing economy.
The program at United Technologies has helped more than 32,000 employees in 50 countries earn degrees in its 15-year history and the company has spent over $300 million on higher education. Congratulations to United Technologies and all the company’s employees on reaching this milestone.
