David Lindley and Jackson Browne, “Mercury Blues.”
Ford has decided to retire the Mercury brand, and farewell! As Ford CEO Alan Mulally explained (via McClatchy)
Mulally, a former Boeing executive, also said the sale or shuttering of iconic brands such as Mercury and Jaguar were not “because they’re not great brands. … But 85 percent of the business is Ford, and we needed to have a laser focus on the Ford brand.
“(It’s) clearly a time now where we have the vehicles that people want that cover the needs of the customers that (were) looking at Mercury before,” Mulally said.
Times changes, tastes change, companies change, cars change. We miss the Hudson Terraplane, we’ll miss the Mercury.
