It takes more than a natural disaster to stop the “ultimate driving machine,” apparently.
Ash from Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano paralyzed European air travel for the past week and threatened to cut off supply of transmissions and other parts shipped overseas by plane to Spartanburg-based BMW Manufacturing Co.
On Wednesday, the automaker said its efforts to bypass the volcanic cloud by shifting the supplies to other unaffected bases in Europe and bringing them in by various means had worked.
