Federal offices in the Washington, D.C., area are again closed today because of heavy snows and an incoming blizzard. Offices of the National Association of Manufacturers are also closed, although many are working from home.
The Senate is not in session today, and Senate Majority Leader Reid says anticipate no further votes this week.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has also announced there will be no votes this week.
As we write, the snow is blowing sideways in downtown Washington, gusting at least 30 mph. But, having read “Giants in the Earth” about Norwegian emigration to the Dakota prairies, we count our blessings. Imagine spending winters in a sod hut.
