Mexican Truckers File Suit

From AP: “MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexican truckers have filed a lawsuit against the United States seeking $6 billion in compensation for losses they claim to have suffered since Washington banned them from crossing the border in violation of a trade pact, an attorney said Tuesday.”

Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and Mexico’s Secretary of Economy Gerardo Ruiz Mateos at the Commerce Department yesterday. From the Commerce news release: “Regarding Mexican concerns over NAFTA trucking, Secretary Locke reiterated his support for a permanent and NAFTA-consistent solution to this issue, stating ‘the Administration is committed to finding a timely resolution through legislation for a new program that addresses legitimate congressional concerns and satisfies our NAFTA obligations.'”
