It is a little after 10 a.m. Sunday. Wanted to check on something in Friday’s White House press briefing, went to the White House website for the transcript. No transcript.
Indeed, only one transcript has been posted for the last week, Thursday’s.
The lack of timeliness is a problem. Yes, the transcript is available through a paid service, but for the public, WH transcripts are the best resource.
The lack of completeness and consistency also leaves the impression that there’s a reason some transcripts are chosen to be posted and others are not. Politics?
No doubt this is just early days hiccuping. The White House has been reworking the website and more work can be expected. Still, it’s not that hard to have your press office transcribe the briefings and put them up the web. C’mon folks!
UPDATE: Right. This is what we wanted to check on, the President’s trip to Canada. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs talked about it during Friday’s briefing.
UPDATE: It’s 7:55 a.m. Tuesday. No briefing transcript yet.
