A quiet week in Washington save for Christmas observations. The NAM is closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
President Bush visit wounded military personnel at Walter Reed Army Medical Center today, spends Christmas at Camp David and then travels to Crawford for the weekend. President-elect Obama is in Hawaii with his family.
The U.S. Senate meets Tuesday and Friday in pro forma sessions to deliver a message of “bah, humbug,” to the possibility of a presidential recess appointment.
There are a few reports of economic data. The Commerce Department on Tuesday releases its final figures on third-quarter U.S. gross domestic product, yet again affirming the recession. New and existing home sales are also due out. For more, see this Forbes article.
