House Energy Bill Debate Continues

By September 16, 2008Energy

The House has voted to move ahead with the debate on the rule setting the debate guidelines for H.R. 6899, the energy bill. Rep. Eric Cantor’s point of order against the rule because it contains an earmark — refinancing of bonds for NYC — was rejected.

Rep. Price (R-GA) has moved for adjournment. Again.

UPDATE: Motion to adjourn overwhelmingly defeated.

UPDATE: (2:50 p.m.): Rep. Doc Hastings (R-WA) urges defeat of the previous question, allowing passage instead of a rule that allows vote on Republican alternative bill. Looks like that votes are going to be delayed and stacked. It’s now on to the D.C. gun bill.

UPDATE: (4:38 p.m.): House passes the rule allowing for consideration of H.R. 6899.  Three hours of debate, no amendments allowed, Republicans will be able to offer a motion to recommit with instructions.
