Cheap and Easy Populism on the Campaign Trail

David Harsanyi, a Denver Post columnist, casts a critical eye at the presidential candidates in both parties who express disdain for America’s wealth creators. From “Straight talk on making a buck“:

No one is saying that corporations should be permitted to run roughshod over citizens, or be given special breaks. No one is suggesting that CEOs should be running Congress. Those are straw men.

But the notion that finding success in the marketplace and making a good living is a less worthy than living off the public’s purse is a dangerous one.

Sadly, it’s an idea that’s growing.
