Detroit News just moved its story on the CAFE provisions in the energy bill. Good reporting, including the views of the foreign auto manufacturers, too.
Mike Stanton, who is president and CEO and the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers, the trade group that represents Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Hyundai, among others, said he believes his members will support the compromise. “We wanted Congress to act. It’s not perfect, but I think we’re going to be pleased,” Stanton said in an interview.
More from Chairman Dingell: “The bill will pass. The question is whether the president will sign it.”
