Reno is a great town, and it sounds like a great match.
The Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce has hired an executive from a powerful Washington, D.C.-based trade group to become its new chief executive officer, the chamber announced Tuesday.
Douglas Kurkul, who is vice president of member communications and marketing services for the National Association of Manufacturers, will take over his duties for the chamber on Aug. 1.
“After an intensive, national search, we are extremely fortunate to have an individual of Mr. Kurkul’s caliber and depth of professional experience come on board as the Chamber’s new CEO,” said Sean French, chairman of the Chamber’s board of directors, in a release. “The Chamber and its members will be the primary beneficiary of Mr. Kurkul’s extraordinary business acumen and leadership, as will the larger business community throughout the region.”
