This Week on America’s Business: A New Senior VP!

Congrats to Mike Hambrick, announced Monday as the new senior vice president for communications here at the NAM (pace Pat Cleary).

Mike is of course the host and producer of “America’s Business,” the NAM’s weekly radio program on all things manufacturing. He’s had a long, varied and distinguished career in broadcasting, which you can read about in our news release posted in the extended entry below. But a couple of other things to round out the picture…

  • Coincidently, the Baltimore Sun — Mike used to anchor in Baltimore — ran a nice little feature on him last weekend:

    “It was a Camelot-like time for me. Baltimore was a great place to work and live,” said the Mount Pleasant, Texas, native who was a 15-year-old high school student when he first broke into broadcasting as a 75-cents-an- hour disc jockey at a local radio station in his hometown.

  • Hey, wasn’t that Mike Hambrick playing a reporter on that Harrison Ford flick, Air Force One? Why, yes it was.


    Appointment Signals Expanded Commitment To New Media

    WASHINGTON, June 11, 2007— The National Association of Manufacturers today announced the appointment of veteran newscaster Michael K. Hambrick to serve as NAM Senior Vice President for Communications.

    Hambrick joined the NAM a year ago as director and co-host of “America’s Business with Mike Hambrick,” the NAM’s weekly radio program dedicated to manufacturing issues. Under Hambrick’s leadership, the one-hour program has been expanded and is now aired 90 times each weekend on 71 radio stations around the country. In Washington, D.C., it is aired at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday mornings on WTNT-AM 570. It is also podcast from the NAM website with more than 300,000 downloads recorded since last August.

    Hambrick produced, wrote and anchored “Freedom Line with Mike Hambrick,” a two-hour weekly radio news and issues magazine program dedicated to protecting the rights of individuals. He also has anchored TV news programs in Washington, Pittsburgh, Dallas and Phoenix. He has owned and managed a multi-media production company and small to medium market radio stations. He produced award winning television reports on the war in Bosnia after spending eight weeks touring the war zone with Adm. Leighton Smith, Commander of I-Four Forces.
