Reason Assaulted: Al Gore, ‘Live Earth,’ Britney

Former Vice President Al Gore bemoaning the state of public discourse as he sells copies of his latest book, “The Assault on Reason” in New York City:

“What is it about our collective decision-making process that has led us to this state of affairs where we spend much more time in the public forum talking about — or receiving information about — Britney Spears shaving her head or Paris Hilton going to jail?” Gore asked.

He lamented what he described as the “destruction of the boundary between news and entertainment” and said the United States was “vulnerable as a democracy to mass and continuing distraction.”

This from a man who is using rock concerts to try to influence public policy on climate change. A man who is giving cultural debasers and convicted felons like Snoop Dogg the “Live Earth” platform to spread their ugliness while at the same time reviling American capitalism.

Does Gore not see the contradiction?

The truth of a an environmental disaster about to happen and global warming is as Al Gore so precisely said “an inconvenient truth”. The truth hurts and most of us cannot handle the truth. It goes back to the bible where it said “forgive them for they do not know”. They do not know because they would rather spend time watching bad role models like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. Two poorly behaved women with all the life opportunities. We watch them because they make us feel some what sane in the boring monotony of our own lives. All the Civil rights we have will be taken from the new generation who have forgoten the hard sacrifices our parents and grandparents made. When we enter another Great Depression we will go back to the basics and explore the solution to the problems we have decided to ignore. Spears and Hilton will be long forgotten and Gore will be remembered for what he tried to tell us. I find it interesting that we run from those with education and studies and fill our interest with trailor trash who can lip synch and appear nude. The answer is for all of us to own up to removed of anger and blame placed on others.

Bravo to the planet’s hero, Al Gore. Some may think he is only Clark Kent, but he is a great man who is broadly experienced and extremely learned in science, law, philosophy, media, government, and ethical business. He brings the gift of truth-force, and is the great leader of our time. I get so frustrated with these flat-earthers who repeatedly stand in the way of progress. Al Gore sees the future well enough to help us change direction for our own betterment. The United States and the whole planet would do well to let him lead.

Another corporate smear campaigner displays themself as just the type of anti-American that Gore writes about. Carter Wood is a waste of space and time for true Americans.

Are you kidding me? Although I have no idea whom or who you might be, I fail to see your climatoligist credentials when you make that statement. Just because a lone internet super conspiracy theorist such as yourself says its not true doesnt mean the hundreds of scientists around the world that have devoted their professional lives to understanding the coming climate crisis wont make it fiction.

Watch what happens this hurricane season and tell me then if you believe everything is okay.

That’s high comedy coming from the man who’s responsible for a movie about a myth, filled with lies, marketed as entertainment, and advertised as the truth.
