Sensenbrenner: ‘Let’s Be Responsible’

By March 10, 2007Energy, Global Warming

As noted below, Congressman James Sensenbrenner, R-WI, will serve as ranking Republican on the new House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. Appointed by House Minority Leader John Boehner, Sensenbrenner has been a voice of reason and economic reality on the topic of climate change. His office today issued a news release on the appointment. Good stuff from the Congressman:

“We all share the same planet and resources, regardless of party affiliation, and consequently, we are united by a common goal – to live in a clean and healthy environment that we can pass on to our children. But as with any issue, there are different ways to attain this goal. Historically, and as evidenced by our past actions, Republicans believe in advancing common-sense conservation initiatives, consistent with our Wisconsin principles of personal responsibility.”

And …

“‘Let’s Be Responsible’ may not grab headlines like ‘The Sky is Falling,’ but it has the virtue of being correct. It also recognizes that there are two climates this panel, and Congress, have to be concerned with. One is environmental, and the other is economic. There is no question of one or the other – we can, and must, have both.”

Best of luck in your service and standing up for common sense, Congressman. And we’ll happily give you the headline, even if it is just a blog.
