Congratulations, Mike!

President Bush has announced his intention to nominate our NAM colleague, Michael Baroody, to head the Consumer Products Safety Commission. (Personnel announcement here.)

In a statement, NAM President John Engler expressed the entire organization’s sentiments in praising Mike’s professional accomplishments and commitment to sound public policy.

Mike Baroody has spent a lifetime in Washington serving in a variety of professional venues and has distinguished himself at every turn for his good sense, good judgment and good humor. During his years with the Labor Department during the Reagan Administration he was an effective advocate for policies that helped create millions of jobs and advance the interest of America’s working men and women. During his years with the NAM, he has contributed immeasurably to our campaign to help manufacturing in the U.S. compete successfully in the global marketplace. And as Chairman of the CPSC, he will be just as tireless in advocating for sound policy to enhance consumer safety.

Best wishes and best of luck, Mike. The President couldn’t have made a better selection.
