Here’s an interesting twist in the debate over the anti-democracy card check bill. Way back in August of 2001, bill sponsor George Miller (D-CA) and a bunch of his colleagues sent a letter to the officials of the state of Puebla, Mexico, urging the use of secret ballots in union elections.
For the record, we happen to agree with Rep. Miller and his colleagues. It’s certainly served us well here in the US for some 70 years. We see no need to throw democracy out the window just because unions can’t seem to win many elections these days.
