Next week will be hopping manufacturingwise in Washington, D.C., as NAM members from around the country arrive for our annual advocacy fly-in, “72 Hours to Educate and Celebrate,” highlighted by Capitol Hill visits by manufacturers to meet with their Members of Congress.
As noted previously at Shopfloor.org, the manufacturers will be hearing Wednesday morning from Vice President Cheney and at noon from Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-SC, the House Majority Whip.
We can also now announce that the high-profile bipartisanship continues Thursday morning at the Congressional Women’s Caucus Breakfast. Guest speakers are Rep. Melissa Bean, D-IL, who serves on the House Financial Services Committee and the House Committee on Small Business, and Sen. Susan Collins, R-ME, the ranking member on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. We’re pleased they could join us.
We’ll be blogging about speeches, activities and other developments next week. Stayed tuned …manufacturingwise.
UPDATE (4:30 p.m.): A speaker certainly not to be overlooked at the Women’s Congressional Breakfast is Ingrid Brase, global marketing manager for National Adhesives’ pressure sensitive adhesives business. National Adhesives is a division of National Starch, an NAM member headquartered in Bridgewater, N.J.
