We are pleased once again to have our roving reporter, Peggy Ireland, reporting live from the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Just like last year, Peggy will be provding daily recaps of what’s cool, innovative and a must-own for all your techies. Many of our member companies will be exhibiting this week and who better to share with you all the innovations happening here than the manufacturers that make it possible?
Here is today’s first installment:
Once again I find myself in Las Vegas at the start of the Consumer Electronics Show, better known in this industry of acronyms as CES. Las Vegas is rather amazing anyhow but even more show when the largest consumer technology show in the world is celebrating its 40th anniversary here.
Although the doors officially open today, there has been lots of excitement over the weekend with 2,700 exhibitors setting up in a record 1.7 million net square feet. According to Karen Chupka with CEA, “CES attendees will witness some of the hottest products emerging on the market including the latest in portable content, wireless and high-definition — reinforcing the 2007 International CES as the global ‘must-attend’ even for consumer technology.”
I got a glimpse of Windows Vista over the weekend and really want to take a closer look. As someone who can’t even find my own car keys half the time, I was particularly impressed with the ease of searching. This show spans so very many industry topics from broadband advertising and digital photography to home networking and mobile entertainment. Probably more than I will be able to see in the two days I have left here, but I am off to see what I can.
