In response to questions submitted by ShopFloor.org readers:
Hastert on extending the R&D tax credit: We’ve passed the R&D extensions, the Senate has sat on them. The Senate hasn’t moved them, but we’d like to get them permanently extended. We will move R&D tax credit when we get back “for sure”
Boehner on the chances of passing an energy bill: On energy, we were close to agreement with the Senate, but there were some Senators that walked away from the table. Pombo, Peterson and others will talk to the Senate and try to get the Senate Energy bill-plus. Some House members don’t believe the Senate bill means anything. We think there are things we can add to the Senate bill that aren’t deal killers that will make this meaningful energy legislation.
