Yesterday we featured an interview with NAM President John Engler that was held in Atlanta during the recent FabTech trade show. BetterProcess.com has a really good podcast about manufacturing and it was featured there.
Today we are linking to the second half of that interview. You can hear it by clicking here. In this second half of the interview, Gov. Engler discusses the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) which has been a football in recent federal budgets. Gov. Engler points out how effective MEP is in helping small manfacturers remain competitive.
Rayment asked about the use of lean in U.S. manufacturing and NAM’s interest in spurring it. Gov.Engler noted that the NAM showcases best practices such as lean and highlights the teamwork behind successful lean manufacturing execution. His speech to the FabTech conference addresses this topic and Gov. Engler discusses some specific examples of ways in which manufacturers are implementing innovative lean practices to increase safety and productivity.
