Friday Follies Bonus: Own a Piece of TV History

Friday FolliesNot sure if you caught this or not, but a true piece of TV history — indeed of nautical history — is on the block. Yes, the S.S. Minnow, the boat that launched for a simple three hour cruise, that ended up marooned for a few seasons, is now for sale. Boat broker George Schultz (no, not that George Schultz) is asking $89,400 for the twin-diesel, 36-foot mahogany Wheeler Express Cruiser. Of course it needs a little work (like $180,000 worth), but hey, you can’t put a price on memories, right?

Just think, for under 90 grand, you can take imaginary “Gilligan’s Island” cruises with the whole gang: Skipper, Little Buddy, Thurston, Lovey, Maryanne, Ginger (oh yes, Ginger) and the Professor (what the heck was his name, anyway…?) You can re-live all the great episodes. But given its history, do pack a life vest, a radio and maybe even a GPS. Gilligan, you’ll recall, dropped his GPS into an alligator’s mouth — or was that another show?

No matter, just wanted to provide this as a public service to both your regular blog readers out there. Move fast and the S.S. Minnow, the star of the high seas, can be yours.
