Senate Falls Short on Death Tax Reform, R&D Credit

The Senate worked late last night and came up short on the H.R. 5970, the bill to reform the death tax and extend the R&D tax credit. By a vote of 56-42 (Roll Call No. 229), Senators failed to invoke cloture on the legislation, demonstrating again majority support for these important economic reforms, support which was unfortunately thwarted by election-year politics.
