We hope this week will at last be the Senate vote on the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act, the Senate companion to the DOER Act that passed the House (with a push from blog readers) last month. Pre-Katrina, pre- $3/gallon gas, this bill was unthinkable, but as the public has gotten wise to the laws of supply and demand, it has added new lift to the efforts to tap our own resources. Remember, we’re the only country that doesn’t.
We’ll write more on it this week, but please click here to urge your two Senators to vote for this bill, S. 3711. This is now a sprint, the action will likely be this week. Senators need to hear from manufacturers and manufacturing employees to get this thing done.
