Here’s this story from the AP on the G-8 meeting this week in St. Petersburg:
“With high demand and worries about supply driving oil near $80 a barrel, the Group of Eight offered cautious support Sunday for nuclear energy as an alternative.”
This is an enormous step forward for nuclear energy. We already know that France gets almost 80% of its energy from nuclear. These G-8 nations are all competitors of ours. We need to be able to generate affordable energy here in the US if we are to remain competitive with the rest of the world. That means tapping our own supplies, using clean coal technology, and building more nuclear facilities.
Glad the G-8 finally agrees.
