Word was yesterday — confirmed by this AP story — that the Senate had reached a deal on allowing us to tap our own resources in the Outer Continental shelf, which are substantial. It will allow exploration in parts of the Gulf which are now off-limits, but will still carry some unnecessary restrictions.
While Floridians consume enormous amounts of energy, we ought to be unleashing the stores of energy that sit off the Florida Coast. Hopefully this deal will bring us a step closer to a more rational energy policy.
Details to follow.
