Teachers Union Opens Its Ranks to Non-Teachers

By June 20, 2006General

Further to our post from Sunday about how bigger budgets don’t necessarily mean higher test scores is this gem from the LA Times last week. The California Teachers Association, an affiliate of the NEA, has decided to accept non-teachers into tis ranks. According to the story by Joe Mathews, the CTA will now accept “school secretaries, bus drivers and other education professionals who aren’t teachers.”

However little the NEA cared about improving education before, they probably will care even less now that their membership will be diluted by non-teachers.
