NAM members will be the stars — or maybe we should say, more accurately, the poster children — at a hearing today on the impact that the high price of natural gas is having on small manufacturers. The hearing is going to be held by the House Small Business Subcommittee on Tax, Finance and Exports, chaired by Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-NH).
NAM Member Jeff Uhlenburg of the Donovan Heat Treating Company, will testify on our behalf. Other NAM members will be present and will testify as well. The highest natural gas prices in the world have bedeviled US manufacturers. We rely on it to make all kinds of stuff. We are sitting on an enormous reserve of it, and the DOER Act will let us tap it for once. This is something Congress can actually do to make it easier for manufacturers to compete.
Drop your member of Congress a note, tell them what’s happened to your natural gas prices. They know what they should do. Hold their feet to the fire.
