Just in time for the Senate debate, here’s a new study on the death tax from the non-partisan Tax Foundation, concluding:
“There is a large economic literature showing the estate tax has a negative effect on entrepreneurship, imposes large compliance costs on the U.S. economy, and is not an important source of federal revenue.”
You can say that again, considering that, according to another non-partisan group, the Joint Economic Committee — the tax actually costs the economy more than it brings in.
