Yesterday the House Resources Committee held a hearing on H.R. 4761, sponsored by Rep. Bobby Jindal (R-LA), to increase offshore production of energy. Among other things, this bill codifies the current 125 mile ban on drilling, but it allows coastal states to opt out of the ban. There’s more than one way to skin this cat. In any event, thanks to Resources Committee Chair Richard Pombo who keeps working tirelessly to bring down energy prices for us all.
NAM Board Member, small manufacturer and Virgina State Senator Frank Wagner testified in favor of the bill. He is pushing for similar legislation in Virgina. As a manufacturer, he understands the burden of high energy prices. Here’s a link to our press release from today.
Also, here’s a link to a great ad that will appear next week, illustrating once again that folks can talk as much as they want about alternative energy, but at the end of the day, all roads lead to natural gas. And we have 420 trillion cubic feet of it.
