plane.jpgToday and tomorrow, tens of thousands of people in the Washington, DC area will converge upon Andrews Air Force Base for the annual Joint Service Open House. We’ve been there, can attest that it’s a great one. Among the sights to see will be the C-130 Hercules, a prime Air Force transport aircraft, able to carry — and air drop — over 20 tons of stuff.

Well, thanks to the good folks at South Carolina Educational TV once again for a great video, here’s a tour of Lockheed’s South Carolina plant where the Hercules C-130J is made. Here’s a fact sheet on the C-130. Whenever we go to Andrews, somebody always comments that the noise you hear is the sound of freedom.

    The C-130J is made in Marietta Georgia…I just walked by one on my way to the cafeteria here at Lockheed! 😉
