How’d We Miss This? John Stossel on Lou Dobbs

By March 22, 2006Dobbs Watch

Dobbs WatchWe were rummaging through some Internet files a few days back and ran across this gem which somehow eluded our team down at It’s a piece from a month or so ago (there was a broadcast companion to this written piece) by John Stossel about Lou Dobbs. Let’s just say it’s not terribly flattering, and it concludes that some companies that outsource are actually the bigger (US) job creators.

This echoes a similar thought from Tom Friedman’s book (himself no Dobbs fan), “The World is Flat“:

“This explains why, although the United States has lost some service jobs to India in recent years, total exports from American-based companies — merchandise and services — to India have grown from $2.5 billion in 1990 to $5 billion in 2003. So even with the outsourcing of some service jobs from the United States to India, India’s growing economy is creating a demand for many more American goods and services.

What goes around, comes around.”

Not sure how many things Tom Friedman and John Stossel agree on, but when it comes to Lou Dobbs, they’re apparently in the same camp.

I have sent Pat a link to the transcript from 20/20. However, the video is what is the best as it shows how emotional Lou got — it made look like a fool. Hopefully, Pat can find a link or upload the video now that we know what episode this was from.

  • Ryan says:

PLEASE find that link for the love of Jebous. That would make my day/week.

    Dobbs is so stupid.

  • Pat Cleary says:

Do you have it or a link to it? We’ll post it!

    Thanks for writing,

    Pat Cleary

You should see the 20/20 interview when Jon talks with Lou about outsourcing. Lou looked like a complete idiot!
