Today the House GOP will be holding its elections for Majority Leader, the #2 slot in the House after the Speaker. Candidates are Rep. Roy Blunt (MO), John Boehner (OH) and John Shaddegg (AZ). The Republican Conference has unveiled a website none too soon that will post the latest details on the election.
Go to GOP.gov any time after about 1 p.m. Keep hitting “refresh” on your browser, as they will be providing regular updates. The meeting will begin with each candidate making a speech, so there might not be a vote for an hour or so. First vote is for Majority Leader. Second vote is for Policy Chair. If Rep. Blunt wins the Majority Leader’s race, then he must vacate his seat as Whip, and there would be an election for that seat as well.
Stay tuned to GOP.gov for the latest.
