A ‘Great Pipeline Race’ in Canada

By December 5, 2005General

Here’s a link to a front-page Washington Post story of this title today about efforts to build a pipeline across thousands of miles of Canada so it can bring much-needed natural gas to the US.

Just think: there are 420 cubic feet of natural gas in the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) — 85% of which is subject to a federal moratorium wile we pay the highest natural gas prices in the world. Doesn’t make sense, does it? This would be a hundred, not thousands, of miles. An environmentalist is quoted in the story as saying of natural gas exploration: “In principle, we are not opposed, if the development is done in a properly planned and well-balanced way.” Exploration of the OCS meets both tests.

Write a note to your Member of Congress and tell them to tap the reserves we have right here in the US of A.
