Sen. Rick Santorum (PA)

By November 17, 2005General

Sen. Santorum just walked in and spoke about his party’s overall accomplishments:

The Energy bill and legal reform. On the budget, it called for a zero increase on domestic spending beyond homeland security and the war on terror. “We passed the highway bill. Some wanted to spend much more, but we held firm, did so in a responsible way. We passed CAFTA. We need to spend money in a fiscally responsible way.

On privacy: “We passed the generic non-discrimination act.

“We will pass a tax increase prevention act, to prevent taxes from going up. We also passed the pension bill, and the Terrorism Re-Insurance Act. The aim is to create security and growth for our citizens.

On the war: “There is real substantive progress being made. Iraqis are sacrificing their lives for freedom, are committed to seeing this through. The focus of the media is playing into the hands of those who are fighting against us. The media coverage doesn’t go unnoticed by the terrorists, and this is not helping our cause, and Dr. Chalabi (in a meeting yesterday) agreed and made this point as well. Opponents seem to be looking for an exit strategy and not a victory strategy.”

For Judge Alito: The only question that should be asked is, “What is your judicial philosophy and how do you interpret the constitution?” His job is to apply the law, not make the law.
