A fairly big deal yesterday: The NAM and Monster — the biggest industrial trade association and the biggest online jobs resource, with some 25 million unique visitors a month looking for jobs — announced a partnership aimed at aiding the displaced victims of Hurricane Katrina. Together, we have created a customized website that will help victims of the disaster as well as help volunteers find opportunities to help.
The site includes opportunities for manufacturers to call and list jobs — free of charge — as well as for those seeking work after the Hurricane to scan the listings that are being loaded on there virtually every minute by manufacturers.
Here’s a copy of the memo NAM President John Engler sent today to all NAM members, announcing the jobs bank. Here’s a link to our press release. We have received a bunch of calls from members offering jobs. This new site will facilitate the process of matching those jobs with job-seekers.
Thanks to Monster for the help on this and the willingness to step up to the plate. Please check it out, pass along to any employers you know who have openings.
