This afternoon, NAM President John Engler joined Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and Bruce Josten from the US Chamber of Commerce to urge the immediate confirmation of Judge John Roberts to be the next Chief Justice. As you know, we were the first business group to endorse Judge Roberts and our criteria have received quite a bit of play, as folks read them and realize that these are precisely the standards by which a new Justice should be evaluated. We handed them out today along with a copy of our press release. Here’s a link to a video of today’s event.
John Engler has long said that we need judges who interpret the law if we are to stem the tide of frivolous litigation, and he proved it when he was Governor of Michigan. The fight now moves to Washington.
